Amirani
I approach the myth of Amirani not as distant folklore, but as something cinematic, tactile and deeply embedded in place.
Traditionally, Amirani is the Georgian heroic figure who defies the gods by bringing knowledge of metal to humanity, echoing the Prometheus myth. As punishment, he is chained to the Caucasus Mountains, where his body is eternally tormented and renewed. In my interpretation, this myth is no longer only about punishment or rebellion, but about persistence, repetition and emotional endurance within the landscape itself. The locations, inspired by Sergey Paradjanov’s visual world and my own encounters, become part of the myth rather than its background, turning the Caucasus into both stage and body of the story.
