2025

“Fragile as tiles, their souls also breaks into thousand of pieces each day for having to pretend they are someone they’re not. They are judged each and every day yet their wounds are invisible.”

A romantic riot against the anti-humanistic reality which opposes the world of love and humanity to the world of blind faith and dead religious dogmatics. Focusing on LGBTQ+ rights in Iran, Tile Tales unravels cultural taboos, myths, traditions and sexuality in Middle East.

Repressed desires and taboos are presented behind shattered and fragmented tiles from Iranian dynasties. Sensual erotic relations between male bodies behind broken tiles is a political statement in the framework of a contemporary patriarchal society, where LGBTQ+ community is not just invisible but also under the threat.

“Why do you stay in prison when the door is so wide open? Move outside the tangle of fear-thinking. The entrance door to the sanctuary is inside you.”
