Shamans

Among the people of Anatolia, there are beliefs and practices that share similarities with shamanic traditions.  While not strictly shamanism in the traditional sense, these practices demonstrate shamanic-like elements. Turkish shamans, often known as "bakshy" or "dede" in different regions, are believed to have the ability to communicate with spirits, both benevolent and malevolent. They act as intermediaries between the spirit world and the community. Shamanic rituals in Anatolia often involve symbolic acts, dances, and invocations of spirits. These ceremonies are performed for various purposes, including healing, protection, agricultural rituals, and spiritual guidance.
