Lezginka

Lezginka is a traditional dance widely performed across the Caucasus, associated with ideas of strength, discipline and courtship. Defined by sharp, controlled movements and a structured interaction between performers, it reflects long standing social codes and forms of collective identity.

In my work, I approach Lezginka as a dance shaped by  intimacy and coded gestures of desire, and I use it to rethink how masculinity is expressed through the body.
