Lezginka

Lezginka is the collective name originally given by Russians to all North Caucasian dances united by fast rhythm. A vibrant dance deeply ingrained in Caucasus culture, intricately embodies both masculinity and femininity, symbolized respectively by the majestic eagle and the elegant swan. Its dynamic movements capture the essence of these gendered archetypes, with performers exuding strength and dominance reminiscent of eagles, while emanating grace and charm characteristic of swans. Yet, beneath this surface lies a complex narrative shaped by the toxic dominance of masculinity in Caucasus society, imposing rigid expectations and limiting individual freedom.
